Eyno Focus · focus timer
Eyno Focus is a Pomodoro timer for Mac and iPhone. You write one sentence about what you're about to do, start 25 minutes of work, and the mascot slowly melts as the time runs down. An idea that pops into your head gets set aside with one click. Open an app that usually pulls you away, and Focus asks whether you're sure.
Every session starts with a sentence, typed under "Write your task here, one sentence is enough." It stays in large type at the top of the panel the whole time you work. Then you pick a mode and the timer starts. As a focus app for Mac, it asks for nothing more than that before you begin.
Pomodoro alternates work and breaks. Custom length runs a single block, 45 minutes by default, anywhere from 5 to 240. Open-ended has no end time, so you stop when you choose.
When an idea shows up mid-task, the Thought button, or ⌃ ⌥ P from any app, writes it in the Notepad. Return saves it, and you read it back when the session ends.
White, pink or brown noise, plus 15 recorded ambiences such as Thunderstorm, Café, Library and Wood fire. Mix as many as you like, each at its own volume.
Time focused, sessions, thoughts set aside and distractions, for the current day only. No streak to keep alive and no score.
On a MacBook with a notch, the mascot lives in a small black wing beside it. On any other screen, it sits in a small floating window.
On iPhone, the session shows as a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and a notification tells you when each phase ends.
The Pomodoro technique splits work into short blocks. Eyno Focus starts with the classic settings: 25 minutes of work, a 5 minute break, and a 15 minute long break every 4 cycles. Every length can be changed. Work runs from 5 to 120 minutes, the short break from 1 to 30, the long break from 5 to 60, and a session holds 1 to 12 cycles. The steps, the variants and the limits of the method are in our guide to the Pomodoro Technique.
Stopping in the first 5 minutes doesn't count, so a false start never inflates your day. When a session ends, Focus asks "What did you get done?" and then shows the thoughts you set aside along the way.
The Sounds tab mixes the three noises with ambiences like Light rain, Ocean, Forest or Fan. Each sound has its own volume, so the rain can sit in front with the pink noise just underneath. During a session, the current mix appears under the timer.
No. Focus blocks neither websites nor apps. In its settings, you build a list of "Apps that distract you." If you open one of them during a session, an "Are you sure?" card appears with the mascot breathing slowly. "Back to my task" hides the app. "Open Messages anyway" lets you use it for 10 minutes.
The list covers apps, not website addresses. Focus reads nothing of what you do inside those apps and asks for no permission at all. If you need a hard block that stops you from opening a site, Eyno Focus won't do that. It reminds you of your task and leaves the choice to you.
The Focus modes in macOS silence notifications, but macOS doesn't let an app turn one on by itself. Eyno Focus works around that with two shortcuts you create once in the Shortcuts app, one for the start and one for the end. After that, the "Silence notifications during sessions" option uses them every time.
To write without typing during a Pomodoro, Eyno Voice, the dictation app in the suite, pastes your words wherever the cursor is when you let go of the fn key. And for the report itself, the Eyno Write word processor saves in Word format.
